My Portfolio Allocation May

Here is my portfolio allocation:

  • Cash...................39%
  • Stocks................43%
  • Bonds.................8%
  • Gold...................3%
  • Unit Trust............7%
Over the past month, I have sold off quite a bit of SMRT shares which is one of the bigger portions of my portfolio. I did it to cut loss and to be able to buy is back at a lower price. Which it did, about 10 cents lower at $1.4. During this time, I also bought into VARD Holdings, formerly known as STX OSV. Won't be going into details as to why I bought in this post, maybe a later one as this post is basically just allocation of assets. Anyway, Macquarie(MIIF) also divested TBC and I have opted not to take cash. Took shares instead so that doesn't change my percentage in share. Bonds, gold and unit trust amounts remain the same.

Well, that's it for my portfolio allocation! What's yours like? Please do share so that we can learn more from each other.

As always, Save more, Spend Less and Invest wisely

  1. Hi

That's a pretty good allocation to be honest, other than the fact that I feel you are having too much cash at the moment. But that's never a bad thing. In fact, I wish I could build up more cash these days.

    1. Hi B, I'm holding more cash because I'm getting my house at the end of the year and trying to have a kid soon. Not really sure how much It's going to cost so bolster with more cash. The other reason would be that I'm on " A market correction should be coming soon" camp. =)

    2. Hi RSG

Congrats on having a child soon. Life's greatest has always been surrounding family and children. I am going to get married in 2 weeks time as well.

Just wondering, are you the only sole bread winner or are your wife working too as well?

    3. Hey B, by the way, it's trying to have a kid. No luck yet. My wife is working as well. Thankfully. Thinks it's getting harder to get by on a single income, live comfortably plus wish for an early retirement these days. And not forgetting CONGRATULATIONS.. Have a great wedding.
